We are a twenty-something, Midwestern born and raised, married couple who decided to take our love of seeing new places up a notch by traveling round the world. Before going global, Ben worked as a structural engineer for a firm in Texas, while Deenaree worked as an ESL teacher in a local school district and part-time as a trainer through a language company.
The decision to travel to this degree wasn’t an easy one-we left stable jobs and a sense of involvement in the lives of those around us-but with the love and support of close friends and family, we went forward knowing that this was an opportunity we could not pass up.
We left in September 2009 and spent the next 11 months on five continents. Our journey has taken us to rural, indigenous villages and skyscraper-filled cities. We have followed trails up Andes mountains, swam with Galapagos born sea turtles, floated on the Dead Sea, shared tea with a Syrian grandmother, and visited tombs of pharaohs of ancient civilizations. It has definitely been a life-changing and educational adventure.
Now we live in Bangkok, Thailand, getting reacquainted with Deenaree’s family, recharging our batteries and our bank accounts and we’re still learning and discovering. We are enjoying our ride and can’t wait to see where life takes us next.
If you are here…welcome! We invite you to follow along and learn with us.
-Ben and Deenaree
