June and July were crazy months due to preparations for the trip and the possibility that it wasn’t going to happen. Ben went to get a physical and there was a question about his heart health. The doctors referred him to other doctors and the whole process was dragged out until the beginning of July. There was a genuine concern that this trip would not be happening due to Ben’s health. Luckily, the tests turned out fine and we were able to proceed with our travel plans. During this time, Ben was sent to Ensenada, Mexico for a work assignment. This assignment unexpectedly lasted 3 weeks, which meant that there was little time to pack before move-out date.
A few days after Ben landed back in TX, his family was gracious enough to come down with a moving van to haul all major furniture and appliances for his siblings to use. Whatever else was left needed to be sorted through because we were only driving his car back with only the most important things. It was a weekend full of tears on Deenaree’s part as we realized that the car was not going to fit all of the leftover items. Apartment sale signs were posted and a local family left with 4 truckloads of stuff to start off their own lives. In the end, we were fortunate to get both of us in the car and to not hit a bump that forced it’s bottom to fall out. As you can see in the picture, our car was stuffed to the max!

Our 3 years in Houston provided us with very fond memories. The apartment that we inhabited for more than a year was one of our favorite places to live. We’ll miss the big windows, trees, and armadillos!
